Honestly I used to think gloves were just for looks or like keeping your hands clean. Thought anyone complaining about burns was being soft or didn't know how to work fast enough. Then my own pair gave out mid-fade last month and I got a chemical burn right on the crease of my knuckle. That stung for days and made it impossible to grip anything without wincing. Changed my whole view on buying cheap gloves and checking them before every single job. Now I get why people stress about gear quality so much, it really matters when you're in a rush.
