Went back and forth between mobile check deposit and the ATM for years but finally just started going inside the branch
Tried depositing a $450 check through the drive-thru ATM last Tuesday and it ate the envelope without giving me a receipt, so the teller had to spend 20 minutes tracking it down, has anyone else just given up on self-service banking?

Wait, I think you might be mixing up two different things. The envelope thing is usually about cashing a check, not about getting a receipt for something you bought. I mean, maybe they ate the envelope without the receipt inside, but that's a whole different kind of frustrating. Your mileage may vary, but I've had places just not hand over a receipt unless you ask twice. It's like they're trying to save a tree one slip of paper at a time.

Wait, did I have that backwards the whole time? I always thought you were supposed to put the receipt in the envelope for some reason, but this makes way more sense now. Guess I've been doing it wrong for years.
