Took my kid to open a savings account and the teller asked her "what's your goal" like she was 22 lol

My 8 year old just wanted the free piggy bank they advertised. She straight up said "to buy a giant stuffed sloth from the mall." The teller nodded so seriously and typed something into her computer. It made me realize how much these banks push the "savings goal" talk even for little kids just trying to get a toy. Do any of you feel like the whole "financial literacy for kids" thing gets a little too corporate sometimes?

Isn't that just banks grooming the next generation of customers?

Man, @jordan330 nailed it. Banks are literally training kids to see saving as this fun little game so they'll stick with them for life. That teller typing up a "giant stuffed sloth" goal is just them collecting data to market more stuff later. It's like when they give out stickers for deposits, it's not about teaching money sense, it's about building brand loyalty before they can even spell interest.
