Overheard at the coffee shop - bank told them 2FA texts were optional
I was waiting for my order and heard someone say their bank told them two factor texts were optional for online banking. The customer said they just turned it off because it was annoying. When did banks start leaving it up to customers to decide on basic security features like that?

Agreed completely, I had basically the same experience with my credit union last year. They sent me an email saying I could opt out of the text codes, and I was honestly shocked they'd even offer that as an option. It feels like they're just shifting the responsibility to us, which seems like a huge security risk for something as important as banking.

Shifting the responsibility to us" is exactly right. Had to fight my bank to keep 2FA on.
