My dad told me to get a credit card right after college
He said to put my $60 phone bill on it and pay it off every month, no exceptions. I thought it was a hassle at first, but after three years my score was over 750. It made getting my car loan in Charlotte a breeze. Anyone else have a parent give them a piece of banking advice that actually worked out?

Paige I think it really does depend on the person and how disciplined they are. My dad gave me the same advice, put my Netflix and phone bill on a card and pay it off every single month. After two years my score hit 780, which made renting my first apartment in uptown Charlotte way easier than it would have been without that history. Just gotta be strict about never carrying a balance, it's too easy to let it slide.
