Hot take: phone tap payments are making people worse at catching card errors
Last week a guy at my gym in Dayton paid for a smoothie by tapping his phone and walked off without noticing the screen said $14.50 instead of $4.50. I work with numbers all day, so maybe I notice this stuff more, but nobody looks at the total anymore. Tap and go means people just trust whatever the reader says and move on. Has anyone else seen this get worse, or am I just cranky about it?
