Hot take: Digital wallet vs physical card for daily spend in Chicago

I went all in on Apple Pay for 3 months and ditched my debit card, but got stuck when the reader was down at a crowded food truck last week. Anyone else hit a wall going fully digital?

Pile on top of that the fact the city won't even admit it's a problem, just keeps saying they're "working on it" with zero timeline. Pretty much feels like they're waiting for us to stop complaining.

What if the city's actually scared to fix the readers because they'd have to admit how badly they messed up the whole rollout in the first place, @wright.taylor? Like, if they replace a bunch of busted readers now, it's basically them saying "yeah, the original ones were garbage." Instead they're just stalling until everyone forgets about it. I'd bet money the Reader article keith264 mentioned probably shows a ton of those readers on fancy corners nobody even uses anymore lol.
