Appreciation post: That app that rounds up your purchases to the nearest dollar

I set up the round-up feature on my debit card 8 months ago, and I just checked my savings account - there's $340 in there I totally forgot about, just from spare change on coffee and gas. Has anyone else tried this with a different bank and seen similar results?

Are you actually noticing any difference in your spending, or does it just feel like free money since you're not missing the small amounts?

Wait, have you actually tried tracking what happens when you don't see that money in the first place? I get what you're saying, but I think you're missing the point. When I set up automatic transfers to savings, the money goes away before I even have a chance to spend it. So yeah, I don't feel like I'm missing anything because it was never in my checking account to begin with. It's not about feeling like free money, it's about making sure I don't accidentally blow it on coffee runs or random Amazon stuff. After a few months of this, I definitely noticed my savings stack going up way faster than when I tried to manually move money after the fact.

Free money" is hilarious because nothing about my paycheck feels free, Patricia. I still buy the same dumb stuff, I just don't notice the $50 missing from my account every week. Honestly, the biggest difference is I stopped feeling guilty about buying lunch out because the savings part was already taken care of.
