Tried swapping out vegetable oil for butter in my cookies and wow what a difference

I used to always use vegetable oil for my chocolate chip cookies because it was cheaper. But last month I finally tried using melted butter instead after seeing someone rave about it on a baking forum. The cookies came out way softer and had a richer taste. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed a big change in texture?

i feel you on this one, @oliver719 totally nailed it with that water to fat ratio thing. it's wild how something so simple changes everything. i made the same swap a few months back and honestly i can't go back to oil now. the texture is just way better, softer and more tender instead of that greasy feel oil leaves. butter gives them that rich deep flavor too, like you can actually taste the cookie instead of just sweetness. i tried a batch with half butter half oil once and it was good but not as good as full butter.
