Spent 6 months blaming my oven for flat cookies before I checked the baking powder date
It was 2 years expired and I never thought to look. Has anyone else wasted a batch of ingredients just because of old leavener?

Hold on @patriciacarr, is old baking powder really that big a deal? I've used expired baking soda before and my muffins turned out fine, just a little flat. Might be more about how you store it or the recipe itself. I mean 6 months of blaming the oven seems like a lot when you could've just tried a different brand of flour or something first.

The amount of small things we just trust to be fine without checking is wild. Spent an hour trying to figure out why my phone charger was slow only to realize I was using a laptop cord with a different wattage. We just assume stuff works as long as it looks normal.
