Did your grandma also refuse to use a stand mixer because it was "too easy"? My aunt pulled that on me at Thanksgiving a few years back. She hand whipped her egg whites for like 20 minutes while telling me my electric hand mixer was ruining the "craft" of baking. Then her meringue turned out flat and rubbery and she blamed the oven. The oven was fine, she just gave up too early. Pride comes before the fall I guess.
