PSA: Don't buy those fancy silicone proofing baskets, my dough turned into a pancake blob

Honestly, I spent $28 on a set of two from a local kitchen shop in Portland and tried them out this weekend. The dough stuck like crazy even after flouring them, and my beautiful sourdough loaves came out flat and sad. Tbh, my cheap wicker basket from the thrift store works way better and keeps its shape. Anyone else had silicone proofing baskets fail on them, or did I just get a bad batch?

Man, that's a classic case of "new thing" being worse than "old thing." I've seen it with those silicone muffin liners too, they peel off half the cake, or those fancy non-stick pans that lose their coating in a month. Sometimes the boring, basic stuff just does the job better because it's been proven for like a hundred years. Your thrift store basket probably has that perfect combo of give and grip that no factory can copy. Maybe we all need to stop chasing the shiny new gadget and just stick with what grandma used.
