My sister told me I was overmixing my muffin batter
She said I was working it like bread dough and that's why they came out tough. I tried just folding it 10 times instead of 30 and they were way fluffier. Anybody else have a family member call them out on a bad habit like that?

Wait, did she actually stand there and count your folds? That's some next-level kitchen surveillance, my friend. My grandma once told me I was "manhandling" my pie crust and then demonstrated by barely touching the dough with her fingertips like it was made of glass. Now I just whisper sweet nothings to my pastries and hope they turn out okay.

Haha, whispering sweet nothings to your pastries, I love that. Honestly, at this point, I'm convinced my baking is basically a hostage negotiation. I'm standing there like "Okay, dough, you're doing great, just three more folds and we're done, no one has to get hurt." But yeah, my grandma would literally count each fold under her breath, like she was timing a bomb or something. I swear, if I did one extra fold she'd give me this look that could curdle milk from across the room. Your grandma's "manhandling" comment is gold though, I bet she was the pastry whisperer in her prime.
