My lemon meringue pie turned into a puddle at the church potluck
I was in the kitchen at St. Mark's, and my meringue topping just slid right off the warm lemon filling onto the counter. I had rushed the cooling time, so the filling was still hot. I scooped it all back into the pie dish, called it a 'deconstructed' version, and people still ate it. Has anyone else saved a dessert disaster by just changing the name?

Honestly, I used to be such a perfectionist about stuff like that. Reading about your pie turning into a puddle and just calling it deconstructed actually changed my mind. Tbh it's way smarter to just roll with the mess and rename it than to stress out. My grandma's cake fell apart once and we just called it trifle and served it in bowls. People loved it. It really is all about how you sell it.

Ha @blair626 your grandma's trifle move is genius lol! I did something similar last thanksgiving when my roast chicken got totally dried out. Just shredded it up, called it "smoked pulled chicken" and drenched it in sauce. Everyone went back for seconds. It's wild how much presentation and names matter more than the actual food sometimes.

Totally, I mean half of fancy food is just giving regular mistakes a cool name.
