My grandma called me out for using a stand mixer for everything

I was over at her place last weekend making cookies and she saw me hauling out my KitchenAid. She just shook her head and said "you know I made all my pies by hand for 40 years." At first I brushed it off but then I thought about it. I mean I reach for that mixer for almost everything even when I am only creaming butter and sugar for a few minutes. She showed me how she does it with a wooden spoon and honestly the texture was way different. Her dough came together in like 2 minutes and was super soft. I am wondering if I am overworking things with the machine. Has anyone else noticed a difference when they go back to hand mixing for certain recipes?

So did the texture actually taste better or was it just different?

... wait wait wait you're telling me you haven't tried that yet @juliahall? i was honestly so shocked when i bit into it cause it looked almost exactly like the real thing. like they must have spent forever figuring out that texture because it wasn't just different it was actually scarily close to the original. i mean i've had plenty of those plant based alternatives that just feel like rubber in your mouth but this one actually had some give and chew to it. it's seriously worth a try if you're on the fence about it.
