My fruitcake turned into a science experiment overnight

I left it to cool on the counter in Nashville and came back to find a furry green mold colony growing on top, so I scraped it off and gave it to my neighbor anyway. Has anyone else tried to salvage a bake that went way worse than expected?

I scraped mold off a cheesecake once and still served it at Thanksgiving

@margaretshah living life on the edge, I respect that. The five second rule applies to floors, so I assume the "scrape off the mold and pray" rule applies to cheesecake at Thanksgiving too. You’re braver than me, but I bet nobody even noticed after the third piece.
