Went cheap on a star chart app and it's better than the expensive one

I spent $40 on SkySafari and barely used it because it was too complicated. Downloaded Stellarium Mobile for free on a whim last Friday and now I'm out there every clear night identifying stuff. Has anyone else found cheaper tools that just clicked better?

Fight back on this one, man. I dropped money on Stellarium Plus and honestly the free version felt like a toy after a week. The cheap apps give you the bright stuff, sure, but when you try to track down faint deep sky objects or catch a satellite pass at the right time, they fall apart fast. I've had free apps crash mid-observation or show the wrong coordinates when I needed them most. SkySafari's learning curve is real, but once you get past that, it's like having a planetarium in your pocket. You're probably just seeing the easy targets right now, but wait until you want to hunt down something specific and the free one leaves you guessing.

My neighbor spent $200 on a fancy telescope mount and never even got it level. I picked up a $15 planisphere at a garage sale and now I use it more than any app. Sometimes simple just works better.
