Vent: Spent 3 hours trying to align my finderscope with the main tube before I realized the bracket screws were loose

Turns out those cheap plastic screws that came with my $80 reflector scope were stripped from day one, so I wasted half a night tightening them over and over until I just swapped in some metal ones from a hardware store for like $2, has anyone else fought with those factory finderscope mounts?

Three hours messing with a finderscope? Maybe just skip it and eyeball it for a while. Those cheap scopes are never going to be perfect anyway, so loosening up and just pointing the tube at something bright is faster. People get way too hung up on perfect alignment when half the time the view through the main scope is gonna be fuzzy at $80. If the bracket screws are stripped, yeah swap them out, but calling it a "wasted night" sounds like a bit much. Stargazing is supposed to be relaxing, not an engineering project.

Grabbed some metal screws myself after @the_elliot, the plastic ones just crumbled on me too.
