Tripod leg froze solid on a 20 degree night and I almost lost my scope
Went out Tuesday night to catch Jupiter and the twist lock on my old tripod seized up completely. I ended up balancing the whole telescope on a stack of firewood for 2 hours just to get a clear view. Has anyone else had hardware fail in the cold, and do you use any grease or tape trick to stop it?

Did you try putting the whole tripod in a warm car first? Mine locked up on a brutally cold night last winter and I had to use a pair of pliers just to get the leg loose. Ended up wrapping the lock in electrical tape, works way better in the freezing stuff now.
