Rant: dropped $180 on a light pollution filter and I honestly can't tell if it does anything
Bought a 2 inch filter for my 8 inch dob back in April because my neighbor's porch light in Columbus is brutal and I read it would help with nebulas. Three months later I've used it maybe 6 times and the view of the Ring Nebula looks almost the same to me, just slightly darker. I keep telling myself it helps on M42 but at this point I might just be convincing myself so I don't feel dumb. Does anyone here actually get real use out of these things or did I just burn $180 on a fancy piece of glass?
