Pro tip: binoculars beat my cheap telescope for backyard planet hunting
Spent months squinting through a wobbly $60 scope I got off Craigslist, then grabbed my dad's old 10x50 binoculars on a whim (he left them in the shed). Jupiter's moons popped out crystal clear with the binos, no tripod wrestling. Anyone else have better luck with random gear over the real deal?

$60 scope from Craigslist? That's wild. I tried a similar thing and ended up with a blurry blob of Saturn that looked like a smudged fingerprint. But you had binos just sitting in a shed this whole time? That's honestly insane to think about. I almost feel like half the battle is just admitting that sometimes the cheap stuff works better than what you paid for.

The blurry blob of Saturn gave me chills, that's exactly what I got with my cheap scope too.
