Hit 500 nights logged and it snuck up on me
I keep a simple notebook by the back door and jot down every clear night I spend at least 30 minutes outside with the scope. Last Tuesday I was flipping through September's pages and realized I'd just hit 500 entries. That's not counting cloudy nights or quick peeks, just real sessions where I actually sat and looked. When I started in 2019, I figured I'd maybe do 50 nights a year and then lose interest. The funny part is that it took a random weekday, not a big event like a lunar eclipse, to cross that line. I think all those tiny nights, mostly just scanning the Milky Way from my suburban lot here in Dayton, added up more than any single wow moment. Has anyone else hit a personal count like that and been surprised by what the number actually tells you about your habits?

Notice small habits quietly build into big ones without you even realizing it.
