Almost gave up on stargazing after one bad night at the city park
Went to the big park on the north side of Austin thinking the darker sky would fix everything. But I forgot my red light, stepped on my finder scope in the dark, and spent 45 minutes trying to find Jupiter. Then some guy rolled up with a truck blasting music. Now I just stay in my backyard and use a cheap patio chair. Has anyone else had a lookout spot totally fail them?

Honestly, is a bad night of stargazing really that deep? You forgot your red light and broke your finder scope, yeah that stinks. But you're acting like you got robbed at gunpoint or something. It's just sitting outside looking up, not brain surgery. Tbh the whole thing sounds more like you had a rough evening than some major life failure.
