Why does nobody talk about how loud a broody hen can get?

Last week, my Buff Orpington, Bertha, decided to go broody in the nesting box. She started this low, angry growl every time I came near the coop, and it got so loud my neighbor in Portland texted to ask if I had a new dog. I tried the usual tricks, like moving her off the nest and putting ice packs under her, but she just got louder and more stubborn. Has anyone else had a hen whose broody noises were just over the top?

How loud can it really be? Sounds like you're just not used to it.

Ever been near a construction site at 7 am? The jackhammer alone can hit over 100 decibels, which is like standing next to a running motorcycle. That's not about getting used to it, that's a physical feeling in your chest. Some sounds are just objectively loud enough to be painful, no matter how familiar you are.
