Tried the 'dried mealworms in a hanging feeder' hack and it backfired badly

I set up one of those plastic hanging feeders in my run last Tuesday with a cup of dried mealworms to keep my girls entertained. Came back two hours later from work and found it shredded on the ground with a neighborhood squirrel munching away while my chickens just watched from their coop. Anyone else have luck with a specific feeder that actually keeps the pests out?

Did you try greasing the pole? I greased mine and now a raccoon just stares at it all day.

Oh wow, you greased the pole? That is something else. I would have never thought of that, but I guess it makes sense if you want to stop them from climbing. But a raccoon just staring at it all day is kind of creepy, like it's plotting something or waiting you out. Are you sure it's not just frozen in place? That would freak me out.

Ha, pretty sure raccoons don't freeze, they're just stubborn little things!
