Showerthought: thought I'd have my coop predator-proof in a weekend, took me 5 months

I spent a whole Saturday reinforcing the run with hardware cloth, only to find a weasel squeezed through a gap smaller than my thumb a week later. After sealing every single opening with quarter inch mesh and digging a 2 foot apron, I finally stopped losing birds. Anyone else underestimate how clever these little predators are?

Nah, five months is just lazy. Hardware cloth and a staple gun take an afternoon.

Lazy is a strong word but yeah five months is wild. I keep a roll of hardware cloth and a box of staples in my shed just for when I see a new hole appear. Caught one of those fat little buggers halfway through my garden fence last spring and just stapled him right into the wall. Stupid squirrel went limp immediately.
