Serious question, has a neighbor ever given you chicken advice that made you want to scream?

My next door neighbor, Bob, saw me spreading fresh pine shavings in the run last Tuesday. He leaned over the fence and said, 'You know, you should use sand. It's cleaner.' I've had my flock for three years and the deep litter method works great for my wet Seattle winters. He doesn't even own birds, he just read it online once. What's the weirdest 'expert' tip you've gotten from a non-keeper?

Honestly, the unsolicited advice is a universal neighbor experience. My old neighbor tried to convince me to feed my cat a raw steak diet because he saw it on a podcast. The confidence of people with zero practical knowledge is truly something else.

Did your neighbor ever explain how he planned to handle the whole salmonella or nutritional imbalance thing, @jamienguyen? That raw diet advice is wild to me because it skips over so many obvious problems. It feels like some people just hear an idea once and then repeat it as a full plan without any of the actual work or knowledge. The podcast to neighbor pipeline is way too strong sometimes.
