Pro tip: My chicken coop door took a week to fix because I overthought the latch
I kept trying to build a fancy automatic latch, but the simple hook and eye from the hardware store worked in five minutes. Has anyone else wasted time on a 'perfect' solution for a simple chicken problem?

Oh man, this hits home. I've totally been there, trying to engineer some complicated fix when the cheap, simple thing is right there. You just get it in your head that you need the "best" answer, you know? Sometimes you just gotta go with what works.

Right, you get stuck on finding the "best" answer and miss the good one that's already there. It's like overthinking just becomes the default setting after a while. How do you snap out of that mode?

Yeah I had to train myself to set a timer. Give myself 10 minutes to think about the options and then just go with the first one that makes sense. It sounds stupid but it actually works once you get used to it. The trick is you have to actually stop when the timer goes off and not give in to the "but what if" voice. I still overthink sometimes but it's way better than it used to be.
