My dad insisted I needed a rooster for my six hens to get eggs, and he was totally wrong

He's kept birds on his farm for years, so I believed him when he said, 'Vera, those girls need a man around to get things going.' I got a rooster named Reggie, and let me tell you, the drama! He was aggressive, the crowing at 4:30 AM had my neighbors complaining, and my egg count from the hens didn't change one bit. I did some reading and talked to my local feed store in Tacoma, and they confirmed hens lay just fine without a rooster. I had to rehome Reggie after three stressful weeks. Has anyone else gotten really bad, old-school advice from a family member that just caused more problems?

Oh man, parker_cooper57, he once told me to plant potatoes during a full moon.

Tell us, @kellyflores, did the moon potatoes actually grow?
