My $60 coop heater vs a $15 heat lamp, I switched after one scare

Used a heat lamp for two winters. Worked fine until last February. Hen brushed against it. Smelled burnt feathers fast. Swapped to a flat panel heater. Smaller electric bill too. My girls bunch up next to it now. Anyone else made the switch and seen happier birds?
