Appreciation post: the hardware store in my town started selling chick starter feed

I went to pick up some hinges yesterday and saw they had a whole section now, with grit and feeders too. Makes it way easier than driving 30 minutes to the farm supply place.

My buddy got chicks last spring and had the same problem. He ended up using a weird mix of oatmeal and cornmeal for a week because the farm store was closed. That local hardware store adding feed probably would have saved him a lot of stress.

Oh wow, I actually read somewhere that some people use plain scrambled eggs as emergency chick feed in a pinch! But yeah, having a hardware store carry starter feed is such a game changer for anyone with backyard birds.
