Am I the only one who dropped $50 on a heated waterer that cracked in two weeks?

Bought a plastic heated waterer from Tractor Supply in January and it split right down the seam during the first hard freeze. Has anyone else had better luck with metal ones or am I just picking the wrong brand?

You actually need to check if it has a heating element vs just a heated base plate.

Oh man, that's a really good point actually (and something I completely overlooked before). It's one of those details that makes a huge difference but nobody thinks to mention.

Wait, there's a difference between a heating element and a heated base plate? I just thought heated waterers were all basically the same thing under $100.
