Watching a guy at the Omaha ReStore build a gate from $12 of scrap taught me more than 3 weekends of YouTube
He skipped the pocket screws and just ran one diagonal brace from hinge side to latch corner, and that gate hasn't sagged in 4 years, so now I want to know if a single brace really beats a full frame for a 5 foot cedar gate.

Man, the older I get the more I notice the guy with the simplest answer usually learned it the hard way first.

Ever notice how the same thing happens with fixing stuff around the house? The guy who says "just jiggle the handle" probably flooded his bathroom twice before he figured that out. @jason524 it's like the simple answer is just the last page of a long book nobody wants to read out loud. You earn the short version by living through the long one first.
