The 2x4 I trusted for 8 years was actually a 2x3
I was reinforcing my deck railing last Saturday and pulled out the tape measure before I anchored the new post. That old support beam I'd been leaning on since 2016 turned out to be 1.5 by 3.5 inches, not the 2x4 I assumed it was. How many other 'good enough' lumber pieces are hiding in my yard, and should I recheck every joint before winter hits?
