That leveling foam shortcut made my deck worse in 2 months

Last spring I tried using that expanding foam under my patio pavers to level them out instead of digging up and re-sanding. Saved me a weekend and about 60 bucks in sand, looked perfect for maybe 6 weeks. Then a heavy rain in June washed out the soil underneath and the foam just floated and cracked in chunks. I had to pull up 40 pavers and redo the whole thing with proper paver base. Has anyone else tried this hack and had it fail on them too?

That foam trick never holds up, had to tear mine out too and just packed in gravel and sand properly.
