Cedar vs composite decking, 9 years later I have regrets
Back in 2016 I went with cedar decking because it was $2,100 cheaper than the composite option for my 12x14 deck in Portland. Cedar looked amazing for about 3 summers, but now I'm sanding and staining every spring just to keep it from turning gray and splintering. Has anyone else made the cheaper wood choice and later wished they'd just paid for composite upfront?

Heard a guy at Lowes say cedar looks great till it doesn't.
