Update: I picked the Rae Lakes loop over a Yosemite permit and I'm still thinking about it
Back in 2021 I had one week off and had to choose between the Rae Lakes loop out of Roads End or rolling the dice on a walk-up Half Dome permit, and I went with Rae Lakes. Anyone else skipped the famous park for a quieter route and felt like they dodged a bullet?
