My buddy said my 5-day route in the Wind Rivers was 'just a walk' and it got me thinking.
We were looking at my map for a trip this September, and he pointed at the 80-mile loop I'd planned and said, 'That's a lot of miles, but where's the challenge? It's just a walk.' I'd been so focused on covering ground that I never thought about adding a technical pass or a side canyon. What's a good way to add a real objective to a route without just making it longer?

Margaret_Chen has a point, that's not a casual walk. Try linking two passes with a technical scramble between them, like tagging the summit of a small peak right on your route. It turns a long day into a real climb without adding miles.

Honestly, call an 80-mile loop "just a walk"?

Right? "Just a walk" is hilarious, like tell that to my feet after 80 miles lmao. And yeah @hayden_rivera, adding a scramble in the middle is the complete opposite of a walk, that's a full on sufferfest.
