Lost my tent pole repair sleeve on the John Muir Trail last week

Was putting my tent away after a windy night near Thousand Island Lake and the little plastic sleeve that holds the pole together just slipped right out of my hand. Rolled down a granite slab and disappeared into some rocks. Had to use duct tape and a stick to finish the last 4 days. Anyone ever carry a spare repair sleeve or just me who learned this the hard way?

Man that sucks, duct tape and a stick is classic but not how you want to spend 4 days lol. I always keep a spare repair sleeve in my first aid kit after I snapped a pole on the PCT, trust me it's worth the 2 ounces. Thousand Island Lake is gorgeous though, hope the rest of your trip made up for it.

Why does everyone have to carry a repair sleeve though?
