Bought a $60 water filter for the Eagle Cap loop and it clogged on day two.

The silt in the lakes was way finer than I expected. Anyone have a better filter for silty alpine water?

Ugh that's the worst feeling, isn't it? Dropping that much cash on gear just to have it fail when you really need it. I had a filter totally give up on me in the Sierra once, same kind of super fine silt. What a pain. Have you looked at the ones with a pre-filter or a separate silty water kit? It adds a step but might save you from another clogged filter out there.

Totally agree on the bandana trick. That silty water is brutal on any filter.

Yeah, that super fine silt is a real killer. Honestly, I just bring a cheap bandana now to pre-filter that kind of water into a dirty bag. It adds maybe ten seconds and saves your main filter from getting wrecked.
