Vent: I keep seeing people torque lug nuts with impact guns

Was at a shop in Phoenix last month helping a buddy and I swear every other car had overtorqued lugs. You don't need 150 ft lbs on a Honda Civic, just use a torque stick or do it by hand. Rotors warp and studs snap eventually, and then the customer blames us. Anyone else deal with this daily in their bay?

Every other car had overtorqued lugs" - that's insane, man. I saw a guy at a tire shop last year just zipping on lug nuts with a full size impact gun and no torque stick in sight. Buddy of mine had to replace two rotors on an Accord because the previous shop cranked them so tight the studs actually snapped when he tried to take the wheel off. People don't realize that 75 ft lbs is plenty for most cars, they just keep hammering away.

Wait, studs actually snapped clean off? That's horrifying, I'd lose my mind if I went to take a tire off and just had a pile of metal chunks inside the wheel.
