Vent: I finally tossed my old analog timing light for a cheap digital one and I feel like a sellout
I held onto my old Sun timing light for almost 15 years, mostly out of habit and partly because my first boss in Akron handed it to me on my first day. Last weekend I was setting base timing on a 350 and the dial on the old one was reading about 4 degrees off compared to what the balancer actually showed. I grabbed a $40 digital light off the truck just to check and it matched the mark dead on. The old one had a worn advance knob and I never noticed how bad it drifted. I still keep it on the shelf because it was basically free and it works fine for quick checks. But for anything I care about now, the cheap digital one wins. Anybody else holding onto an old tool that's quietly lying to them?
