Tried the 2 second oil drain trick on a 2013 Corolla, ended up with a mess I didn't expect
Last week I tried pulling the drain plug and letting it sit for exactly 2 seconds before pulling the pan out, based on some old timer's tip, and somehow got oil all over my forearm and the floor of my bay in Reno. Turns out the angle of that specific pan makes the oil shoot sideways instead of down, so I'm done with that trick for good. Did anyone else get burned trying shortcuts like this, or am I the only one who learned the hard way?

So did the old timer also mention the part about standing to the side when you yank that plug? Sounds like his tip came with a free oil facial. Live and learn I guess.
