Just hit 500 oil changes on my own personal log

I was cleaning out my toolbox drawer last week and found my old notebook from when I started at the shop. I flipped through it and realized I've logged every single oil change I've done since day one. The count was at 499, and the very next car I did yesterday pushed it over. It's a weird milestone that hit me harder than I thought it would. Has anyone else kept a weird personal tally like that, or am I just nuts?

That's a solid record. People track the weirdest stuff without even realizing it. My barber has a mark on the wall for every head shave, and my neighbor counts how many times he fills his bird feeder. It's a quiet way to make sense of all the small, repeat work we do. Makes the days add up to something.

My grandpa kept a logbook of every single sunrise he watched from his back porch for forty years. He'd just write the date and maybe one word like "clear" or "frosty." It wasn't about the weather data, it was the act of noticing that mattered. Those small marks become proof you were paying attention.
