I said torsion bars were dead weight until a 62 year old at the shop proved me wrong
I used to roll my eyes whenever an old timer brought up torsion bar suspensions. Last Thursday a guy named Dale brought his 2004 Silverado into our shop off Highway 9 in Everett, and he watched me quote him $1,400 for a coilover swap. He just laughed and said "son, my bars have held this front end up for 210,000 miles and never asked me for nothing." Then he popped the hood and showed me how he'd cranked them up a half inch to clear bigger tires with a wrench he kept in the glovebox. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I've been selling customers parts they don't need. Any of you still run bars on your own trucks, or am I the only one rethinking this?
