Hot take: a parts guy at the counter told a customer "they're all the same" and I can't get it out of my head
I was picking up a set of brake pads at a store in Fresno last Tuesday and a guy two spots down asked for the cheapest ones that fit a 2017 Civic. Counter guy shrugged and said it doesn't matter, they're all the same. I just stood there. There's a real difference in pad compounds and shims, and on a daily driver that's the difference between a quiet pedal and squeal at 20k miles. The customer walked out happy with the cheap set and I felt bad for whoever ends up riding in that car. Am I wrong for wanting to say something? And how do you handle it when the counter guy gives bad advice in front of you?
