Debate: Do you call it a 'come along' or a 'hand winch' and which one saved your day worse? My day from hell last Tuesday

I had two jobs back to back - one where a $30 harbor freight come-along pulled a stuck tractor out of a ditch in 20 minutes and another where the same tool snapped a cable on a rusty truck frame and sent me home with a destroyed knuckle, so which side of the debate are you on and what's the worst you've seen one of those things do?

You ever seen a come-along cable snap mid pull? That sound alone is enough to make you jump. I had one break on me pulling an old fence post, and the recoil whizzed right past my ear. Cheap tools are scary when they let go like that. I stick with the name "come-along" cause that's what my grandpa called it.
