Chased a parasitic drain for 2 days, turned out to be a trunk light

92 F-150 kept killing batteries overnight. I pulled every fuse, tested the alt, even swapped the battery, still draining 400mA. Finally noticed the trunk light staying on with the lid shut because the striker was worn down. 2 days of my weekend gone over a $8 switch, has anyone else been humbled by something this dumb?

wait the trunk light on a 92 F-150? those things have a trunk light? i thought that body style was a regular cab or extended cab with a little jump seat setup, not a trunk. anyway that's brutal man, 400mA is a huge drain too, that's like leaving a dome light on. i did something similar with a glovebox light on my old civic except it was the little pin switch that was bent and i swore it was the radio wiring for like a whole saturday. worst part is you probably checked the striker a million times visually and it looked fine but just wasnt pushing the plunger in all the way. glad you found it though, that $8 switch saved you from buying a new alternator or something dumb like that.
