A stuck brake caliper bolt taught me to stop reaching for the breaker bar first
Had a 2012 Civic in the shop last Tuesday with a front caliper bolt that would not budge, and I was about to grab the 3 foot breaker bar like always. Instead I hit it with a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone from a spray bottle, let it sit 20 minutes, then gave the bolt head three sharp taps with a brass hammer before trying again. It broke loose with a normal ratchet, no rounded head, no busted knuckles. Now I keep that mix in a little pump sprayer on the cart. Any of you got a favorite soak recipe that beats plain PB Blaster?
