TIL most paints need a specific amount of airflow to cure right, found that out in a factory pamphlet

Wait what kind of paint are we talking about here? I had no idea about airflow requirements until I messed up a batch of latex paint in my garage last summer. I left the windows shut and it took forever to dry and ended up all tacky. Is there a general rule for how much air movement you need or does it vary a lot between oil and water based paints?

Oh man, I feel your pain on that tacky batch - I've been there too and it's the WORST feeling after all that work. For latex paint you really just need a decent cross breeze from a window or fan, nothing crazy, but oil based paints are a whole different beast that need way more ventilation. The general rule I go by is if you can smell the paint strongly then you definitely don't have enough airflow, so crack those windows and put a box fan in the doorway pointing OUT.

Huh, I think you've got that slightly backwards actually... latex paint is the one that really needs good airflow since it dries by water evaporation, oil based stuff dries more by chemical reaction so it's a bit more forgiving.
